MATHIEU van der Poel's campaign to gain selection for the Olympic mountain bike race in Rio continues with a race in Belgium on April 10th. Van der Poel is due to compete in Beringen on Sunday in a UCI class 2 cross country race.
In late February he scored UCI points by finishing fourth in the Cyprus Sunshine Cup.
Also on the Dutchman's programme are three rounds of the UCI World Cup, the European Championship in Sweden and the Worlds at Nove Mesto in the Czech Republic.
The 21-year-old is ranked only 278th in the UCI World Rankings and there are five Dutchmen ahead of him, but he beat Rudi van Houts, the highest ranked Dutchman, in Cyprus.

Belgian international Gianni Vermeersch's contract with Marlux-Napoleon Games was "terminated by mutual consent" on April 1st, 2016. There is no news yet on whether the twenty-three-year-old has found another contract.
